Stress & Young Women

YWAT Members Strike A Pose at Spa Day

One of the best things about YWAT is that all of our work is determined by the issues that our members feel are most pressing and relevant. In 2006, 4 associate members of YWAT decided that one of the most important issues for young women in our community was stress and its impact on their lives. The hypothesized that stress had a strong correlation to violence and suicide.

Members were lucky to participate in a training offered by the Center for Urban Research and Learning at Loyola University to learn the research skills that they needed to undertake their study.

After releasing their findings, the 4 associate members partnered with other YWAT members to organize a Spa Day in Rogers Park for young women. Over 60 of our peers attended. Click on the activism and resources section to see photos of the day!
